Indoor Container Gardening with Ginger.
Pulling my hair out, but I could not find the high res originals. Dug up these photos from my urban gardening days in a Brooklyn railroad apartment.
No need to drown these guys in water; they won’t root like lemongrass. I got my ginger to sprout right by the window sill standing up like a zen rock. Planted them with potting soil in 8-10in high plastic juice bottles as a experiment.
My bathroom window was ~5ft and only gets sun in the afternoon. The ginger stalk shot up to 4feet+ . Had to kill the plant off because I had to move so I didn’t get any new roots. Later, I learned that Southeast Asian cuisine also uses the ginger leaves as an herb. The leaves has a more fruity/citrusy note IMO.
P.S. How’s it in ‘Nawleans right now? I wanna visit sometime, take a airboat trip on a swamp and eat Nutria, but I’m terrified of the heat!
